Talking to Kids About Thanksgiving
On a personal note, I often find it super challenging to be a parent around the Thanksgiving season.
The way we were taught about Thanksgiving as children, and the way many of our children are still taught, is a highly sanitized and whitewashed version of history.
There’s very little connection between the violent colonization of Wampanoag territory and the turkey-and-stuffing holiday we celebrate today.
So while we know at school our kids get a vague story about pilgrims and Native Americans sitting down to a friendly feast, in our home we do tell them the truth.
We use words like colonists, Wampanoag, war, harvest, maize, and more. It’s hard to reckon with yet another problematic part of our American history but it’s worth it for our children to understand how our country was built.
It’s for this reason that I didn’t include any “pilgrim” imagery on the coloring sheet, or most of the traditional images you might think of. The closest thing is probably the slice of pumpkin pie.
That all being said, it’s a cultural fact that Thanksgiving is celebrated today in America by coming together with family and friends to be grateful for our blessings.
This coloring sheet, filled with images of cozy animals and harvest bounty, is meant to help celebrate those things.

Ideas for Thanksgiving Coloring Sheets
All of my personal beliefs aside, this coloring sheet is totally perfect for any classroom setting!
It would be perfect to print out for the few days before Thanksgiving weekend, to help kids wind down and get creative.
You could also use it for preschool or day care classes as you start introducing the colors and images of harvest season.
And homeschool families or just any family will hopefully find it useful to print and color any time.

Brunching in NYC can sometimes feel like you’re stuck in a rut, but I recently discovered a place that completely changed my brunch game. Their Mediterranean-inspired dishes are bursting with fresh flavors and unique twists on classic brunch staples. I tried their halloumi bowl with roasted veggies, quinoa, and a perfectly poached egg—it was absolutely amazing! The flavors were so balanced, and I loved how light yet filling the dish was. I also had a side of their fresh fruit salad, which was the perfect refreshing addition. The space has a warm and welcoming vibe, and the staff is super friendly. It’s the perfect spot for a weekend brunch with friends or even a relaxed solo meal. If you’re in the mood for something healthy, flavorful, and different, their brunch menu NYC is a must-try.
I love Thanksgiving Day, but not everyone celebrates it. Very bright and kind holiday, I like it since childhood. I especially like this holiday to visit https://www.novaargo.com/ and get nice bonuses and gifts. How do you like to spend Thanksgiving Day?
Very informative, thank you. Though I have learnt a lot from the article, I really love playing games: exciting worlds, stories. And even more thrilling is the process of creating a game itself. How exciting it is to take some idea and turn it into an interactive game https://speedncash-slot.com/ . I like to play at speed online. That’s how I love to spend my evening.
I am a huge casino fan. i think i have played all the casinos in the world but 1wincrashgames.com remains my favorite. It opened the doors to success for me and now I can have everything I wanted for so long. you should also try playing and find out what it’s like to get lucky.
