Finding the Best Photo Spots

You almost can’t go wrong in the Disneyland Resort parks — everywhere you turn there’s a photo-worthy moment.

But there are definitely some to highlight, whether they’re classic photo backdrops or little-known corners of the park.

Disneyland Photo Tips

I wrote this post about how to take great photos in the park, so once you know your favorite photo spots be sure to read through that too.

It actually has my favorite secret for snapping the best candid photos at Disneyland.

And as always, if you’re taking pictures in the parks be sure to be aware of the people around you. Be sure not to stop traffic for a photo or do anything against park rules.

And especially don’t hassle a character or cast member, or put them in an awkward situation.

Disneyland Photos on Rides

Family photos on the rides at Disneyland are so full of joy!

Snapping a photo during a ride, or while you’re observing your family on a ride, is a perfect way to capture genuine moments of happiness and magic.

Be aware that some rides require you to put your phone away for safety, so be sure you check on that.

Best Secret Disneyland Tips and Hacks

Taking Disneyland Photos in Front of Landmarks

There are dozens of iconic landmarks in Disneyland and California adventure, and if you like a posed family photo you should definitely grab some in front of these famous spots.

In Disneyland you’ll probably want to capture the Main Gate, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, the Small World facade, and the Main Street Corridor.

In California Adventure, iconic spots include the Pixar Pal-a-Round Ferris Wheel, the San Fransokyo Bridge, Radiator Springs, Grizzly Peak, and more.

Best Secret Disneyland Tips and Hacks

While you’re photographing your family in these spots, be sure to look for unusual angles that may make a more interesting photo.

For instance, I love to photograph the castle from a side angle because I think it provides a new perspective on the photo, and it’s far easier to get a picture without other people in it.

The photo below is a great example.

Don’t skip photos on Main Street!

The store fronts provide dozens of opportunities for charming candid photos, and pictures of your kids exploring.

Grab some ice cream and enjoy while taking turns behind the camera, or just let the kids wander while you snap.

Hidden Photo Spots

Aside from the major landmarks in the Disneyland Resort, there are endless beautiful camera-ready moments tucked into every park.

Take the time to let your family roam the less-traveled corners of the park and look for these lovely spots. It’s also a great way to spend time in the parks!

Look for places vibrant colors, cool tile, interesting patterns, or nostalgic moments.

Some of my favorite hidden photo spots in Disneyland are in and around New Orleans Square, It’s a Small World, and Adventureland.

In California Adventure, look for beautiful hidden spots along Buena Vista Street and in Hollywood Land.

Just for good measure, I thought I’d share a few of my personal favorite photo spots in the parks!

The door to Club 33 in New Orleans Square is tucked out of the way and is the most beautiful shade of blue, with some cool textures for photos.
