How to Decide What to Wear to Disneyland
When you’re considering Disneyland outfit ideas, there are a few main factors to consider.
Weather
The main consideration for me is weather!
I know that lots of folks go to Disneyland or a Disney park and prioritize wearing their cutest outfit for photos, or putting on all of the Disney merch in their closet.
But speaking from lots and lots of experience, the most important factor in choosing a Disneyland outfit is weather!
The parks tend to be warm during the day and chilly as soon as the sun goes down.
Because of this, I always have layers for myself and my kids as well.
Comfort
Equally important! There’s truly no worse bummer to a Disney day than wearing something uncomfortable and having to manage it all day.
Consider shoes: don’t wear in new shoes on a park day, and make sure that they’re nice and supportive and won’t give you blisters. I absolutely love these sneakers for a full day of park walking.
In the summer, I actually prefer to wear sandals in the park – Birkenstocks or any other sandal with good arch support are definitely recommended.
Think of your bottoms: if you have a skirt, wear shorts underneath. If you’re wearing shorts, be sure you’re prepared to have bare legs touching the seat of any ride you sit down on. And if you have pants, make sure they fit well and can withstand a day of walking.
And for the rest of your Disneyland outfit ideas, just make sure you wear things that you don’t need to constantly fiddle with or adjust.

Adding Merch to Your Disneyland Outfit
If you like to show a little school spirit, dust off your favorite Disney gear and wear it proudly!
Wearing Mickey is an easy way to get into the spirit, and it doesn’t add a lot of bulk or heat to your outfit. Just be sure your ears don’t pinch, or you’ll end up with a headache.
My personal favorite is my Mickey Conductor hat! It’s tough to find but you can still sometimes get it at Oswald’s in Disney’s California Adventure. (Here’s a pair I found online!)
I also prefer to get Disney merch outside of the parks or Downtown Disney if I can help it, as you can find it at much more affordable prices.
Target often has a great online selection of Disney clothes, as does Kohl’s.
And Etsy has an amazing selection of really unique and fun Disney stuff to wear, too!
You can find the cardigan that I’m wearing below right here.

Bags and Backpacks
If you have kids young enough to need a stroller, this is a piece of cake! Most of the things you bring with you into the park can just stay in the stroller.
But if you don’t have a stroller, you need to think a little more strategically about how to carry around what you need.
Disney parks do have lockers in case you want to store things during the day. However, these do cost money to rent, and then you don’t have immediate access to your stuff all day.
Our solution is to carry a small backpack, or at minimum, a crossbody bag.
My requirements for any bag that we bring are that it’s at least large enough to carry a small water bottle and snacks. With a crossbody bag, you can travel pretty lightly this way, especially if your kids are old enough to each carry their own bag.
If you need a little more space, find a backpack that’s comfy on your shoulders and can fit water, snacks, extra clothing layers, sunscreen, and so on.
Here’s the crossbody Mickey bag I’m wearing in the photo below.

Wearing Hats to Disneyland
I’m big on sun protection, especially for my face, so you’ll often see me in a hat at Disneyland (if I’m not wearing ears!).
If you decide to wear a hat, be prepared that you may need to take it off on certain rides.

What to Wear to Disneyland When It’s Cold
Layers, layers, layers!
Even in the winter, Anaheim can be warm during the day. But we’ve also spent some freezing nights wishing we had another sweater!
In the winter, we layer with a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, heavy sweater or jacket, and either a scarf or hat (or both!).

Have Fun!
At the end of the day, the most important thing to wear with your Disneyland outfit is anything that will help you keep your mind off of your clothes and on the magic!
You don’t want to be uncomfortable or distracted while you’re spinning in the teacups or hugging Mickey.
So wear the outfit that will allow you to feel free and easy, and have a magical day! xoxo

Dressing for Disneyland is all about comfort and fun style! I recommend wearing layers, as mornings and vintage handbag evenings can be cooler. Breathable fabrics, comfortable sneakers, and a backpack for essentials make a huge difference. Adding a touch of Disney magic—like themed tees or accessories—makes the outfit both practical and playful!
I’ve already crossed Disneyland off my travel bucket list. Now I’m looking forward to my next beach vacation. Greece is calling! This time I’m thinking of exploring the coast using this https://aktis.yachts/en/halkidiki/motor-yacht There is nothing better than basking in the sun and sea while sailing around beautiful Halkidiki.
I’ve never been to Disneyland. Is there a dress code there or something? I always thought it was just a place for kids and their parents to have fun and enjoy themselves.
I guess what’s being referred to here is themed outfits and figuring out what’s comfortable for a specific setting. Obviously, wearing a dress and stockings for women — no matter how gorgeous or high-quality — on rides or roller coasters isn’t the most practical choice. It’s more about what’s appropriate and comfortable for the occasion. Stockings, especially from a great or even unique designer brand, can be a good addition to an outfit—whether it’s for a special occasion or just everyday wear.
A well-chosen image has incredible power, as it can emphasize your personality and create the right impression at the right time. This is especially important in dancing, where every movement is combined with the aesthetics of the costume to create a complete story on stage. Ballet, as the pinnacle of dance art, perfectly demonstrates how clothes complement the emotions and idea of a performance.
