A traditional Shandy is a beer cocktail, usually made of equal parts beer and citrusy lemon-lime soda.

Ingredients You’ll Need

These are incredibly easy to make!

There are no fancy ingredients – in fact, the ingredients might already be in your fridge!

But if you want to make your Apple Cider Shandy a little fancier, check out the optional ingredients below as well.

Beer. A cool, crisp lager works well for the Shandy (something like Heineken). Or if you really want to lean into the fall flavors, find a fall beer with notes of apple or pumpkin.

Cider. Any apple cider will do in a pinch but I recommend finding a sparkling apple cider.

Sugar and cinnamon. These are optional but a sugar and cinnamon mixture make a beautiful rim for your Shandy.

Apple. Freshly sliced apples make for a perfect garnish.

How to Make an Apple Cider Shandy

Let’s make a Shandy!

Start by mixing the cinnamon and sugar together for your rim. Mix a teaspoon of each in a small dish.
Dampen the rim of a frosty glass with either a drop of cider or a lemon wedge. Then dip the rim into the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Slowly pour 8 oz of your beer into the glass. Top with 2-4 oz of cider, to taste.
If you like, garnish with an apple slice.
