It never fails. Where I live, the weather is always hotter than I want it to be in September, because as soon as that calendar changes I’m ready for fall!

So to get into the autumn spirit even though it might be still warm out, I’m always inside getting crafty.

Fall craft ideas can be a little tricky, because sometimes we’re so overwhelmed with Halloween ideas the autumn DIYs fall through the cracks.

But these fall craft ideas are pure fall and can stay up all the way through Thanksgiving.

As I was selecting fall craft ideas to share, I took lots of time and care to choose the ones that I thought would be the most fun to make with friends.

So as you’re looking through all of these creative ideas, I want to encourage you to think about inviting friends over for a fall crafternoon together!

It doesn’t have to be fancy — just get some pals together, set out a bowl of popcorn, and grab your craft supplies while you chat.

I love finding ways and reasons to come together with friends, and making something together is such a fun way to hang out.

Make a textured yarn wreath for fall

Adding a soft, cozy yarn wreath to your front door or the interior of your home is such a lovely way to celebrate the season! The texture of this one is easy to create yet so layered and complex.

I love the idea of making a dried orange garland, because it’s super affordable and you can leave up the decor through every fall and winter holiday! You could even ask a neighbor for some oranges from their tree.

Adding fall leaf luminaries to your porch, walkway, or mantel creates a glowy atmosphere that’s pefect for fall. I recommend these with battery-powered candles.

Creating succulent pumpkins is so much easier than I assumed! I created these last year and they stayed fresh from September to November. Then I let them decompose in our garden and this year we have pumpkin vines growing!

Talk about the DIY that keeps on giving.

The tutorial I found for this chunky braided yarn pumpkin is so simple! I think this would be a great project to do with friends while you’re sipping mulled wine and watching Gilmore Girls.

A fall embroidery kit is such a cool thing to add to your autumn days! Embroider a little each day (instead of scrolling on your phone, perhaps?) and watch it come together.

It can even be an heirloom that you hand down, or a tradition to do a new embroidery project each fall.

I know these pompom coasters have Halloween written all over them, but all you have to do to make them last all fall is replace the jack o’ lantern faces with solid orange pompoms and they’ll be perfect little pumpkins!

You could even switch up the colors — oranges, yellows, and whites would make a pretty set.

Easy DIY Halloween Pumpkins

Make something a little unusual and create pumpkins with nailhead trim to add to your fall decor. This DIY is so satisfying to make and you can reuse the trim year after year.

Sock pumpkins? Yes! Super easy sock pumpkins! Teens or younger kids can join in this one and the whole family can make enough to create a centerpiece for the table.

I love the idea of a boho dreamcatcher wreath because it feels like fall without screaming it. No pumpkins, just pretty fall colors and lots of texture.

A fun, vintage-feeling macrame rainbow is such a cute fall craft! This one is particularly fun in groups, and you can make a few rainbows with just 4-5 skeins of yarn and some macrame cord.

You could customize a fall pompom garland about a million different ways! Switch up the colors, the sizes, and the number of strands to make it feel just right for you. No need to include the pumpkins if you don’t want to.

But I will say, a mini pumpkin garland is completely adorable! This one is great for leaving up from September until after Thanksgiving.

This gilded leaf bowl ideas is so pretty I’d leave it out year round! But it would also make a great fall gift for teachers, grandparents, neighbors, and more.

So sweet and unexpected! I l love these clay mushrooms and I think they’d look so sweet as a garland, as ornaments, or gathered in a bowl as a centerpiece.

They look really fancy but these paper pumpkins are actually quite easy to make! Add a battery-powered candle and they become luminaries. They’d look so pretty and glowy at night!

These beaded corn cobs are so pretty! I love the color palette. You could even do this project with kids — just use pony beads and pipe cleaners.

DIY front door wreath

Fall doesn’t have to mean shades of orange and yellow! A neutral pumpkin wreath in pale pinks and creams is a fresh take on a fall DIY project.

So are these terra cotta pumpkins! And they look completely real, but these are just plastic pumpkins with a very cool paint treatment. I’ll be trying this one this year.

Fall craft ideas that don’t involve pumpkins are sometimes hard to come by, but this gold-tipped feather garland is such a great one! So pretty hanging from a mantel or a bar cart.

DIY No-Carve Copper Herringbone Pumpkins

It doesn’t get easier than these very chic herringbone pumpkins! These are mini pumpkins but I think it would look incredible with full sized ones too.

Start foraging! This acorn garland is so whimsical and cool, and you could use it year after year each fall.

A mini fall bunting is tiny but mightily adorable! I could see this decorating a computer screen, hanging on a mirror, or even in a dollhouse for your kiddos.

The deep colors of this dark peony wreath are such a chic take on a fall craft idea. It doesn’t assault your senses with autumn but it’s a shift from the brighter colors of summer. A perfect seasonal change!

DIY Gold Leaf Dipped Pumpkin

Gold everything always, please! Making these gold leaf dipped pumpkins is a total snap with extremely an satisfying (and pretty!) final product.

Loom potholders were one of my first crafts as a kid, and as it turns out, they’re still fun to make! Create them in fall colors and use them all autumn in the kitchen.

This one is at the top of my list this fall, too! An everlasting daisy strawflower garland is so beautiful, and brings the feeling of florals to your fall decor.

Speaking of florals, pressed flower ornaments with fall flowers and colors are so beautiful! These could be fantastic gifts or just hang them from your own cabinet handles for little fall touches.
