Making a Doll Bed

This easy DIY doll bed project is extra fun if you have a kiddo at home who loves to play with dolls, figurines, or dollhouses!

It’s so simple to make using just cardboard, paint, and felt. And it is something that your kids can keep around and add to their creative play.

I love that you can customize its size, shape, color, and patterns to be just right for your family.

Supplies You’ll Need

You can probably find all the supplies you need for your DIY doll bed around your home.

How to Make a DIY Doll Bed

  1. Paint an empty cracker box in a solid color and allow to dry. This will be the “mattress” for the bed.
  2. Cut out the headboard and bed legs from cardboard. Make sure the legs are all the same height, and just a bit taller than the height of your cracker box when it’s laying down. The headboard should be the same width as the cracker box; be creative with the headboard style! It could be simple bars like ours, or more ornate. Paint as desired.
  3. Cut the pillow and blanket from felt. Cut the pillow piece so that it can fold in half to the size that you desire for the pillow. Cut the blanket so that it’s about 4″ wider and 2″ longer than your cracker box. Lay the blanket over your box and trim away the bottom corners so that it will lay flat like a quilt.
  4. Make the pillow. Fold this piece of felt in half and glue up the sides. Stuff with tissues or toilet paper, and glue the remaining side.
  5. Decorate your felt blanket with pompoms, trim, or more felt shapes by gluing them on.
  6. Use low-temp hot glue to glue the headboard to the back of the box, and the legs to the four corners of the box.
  7. Make your bed and add some dolls!
